Lacrosse Instruction

Lacrosse emerged as one of the most popular sports at Tecumseh in the 1990's. Because of the immense popularity of lacrosse, Tecumseh has regularly had many of the top youth lacrosse players from both the Philadelphia area and Long Island, New York.

In order to keep up with the huge demand for lacrosse, a new lacrosse field was completed in the fall of 1997, built to NCAA specifications. The lacrosse program has a full line of helmuts, gloves, shoulder pads, sticks and lacrosse balls. Intra-camp games are scheduled on a regular basis, as well as inter-camp games with any camp willing to try and put up a team to match Tecumseh's.

The lacrosse program is headed up by Mike Borsch, Varsity Boys’ Coach at Lower Merion High School, and by Brian Dougherty and Eric Gregg. Brian was a 3-time All-American goalkeeper at the U. of Maryland and was the goalkeeper for the USA World Team in 2010. He is now the Varsity Men’s Coach at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. Visiting coaches come regularly to Tecumseh during the summer. In 2010, Billy Daye, Coach of the Boston Cannons, spent several days at camp and plans to return in 2011. Eric played college lacrosse at Gettysburg College and is presently the Varsity Coach at St. Joe’s Prep. In Philadelphia. He is the founder and CEO of the L.E.A.P.S. lax program in Phila. which aims at improving the lives of young boys through lacrosse.

The Tecumseh lacrosse staff is filled with many current and past lacrosse stars. In recent years, the lacrosse staff has included:

  • Dave Delaney - former captain for the University Of Pennsylvania lacrosse team and a part of the Tecumseh family for over 10 years.
  • Chris Haunss - captain of the Duke University team and a Tecumseh family member for over 10 years.
  • Tucker Radebaugh - A first team NCAA All American in 1997 at the University of Virginia.

Also making appearances in recent seasons were Paul and Gary Gait, both perennial All Stars and multiple Most Valuable Player Award winners in the Major Lacrosse League.
