Football
The Tecumseh football program is run by Jim Fraser, a long time professional player in the National Football League. Jim coached at the college level and high school level for over 30 years. He is a former coach at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia as well as Cornell University and The University of Illinois.
While Tecumseh does not schedule any full contact football games, the football staff works with aspiring players on all aspects of the game. Players are taught the proper techniques of the game at the various positions. They also learn to execute basic offensive and defensive plays. Conditioning is heavily stressed. Many of the players work out with members of the football staff in running (sprints and long distance), stretching and weight training down at the Weight Room.
The football program at Tecumseh started in the 1950's when the camp Director was George Munger. As head coach at the University of Pennsylvania, George built the Quakers into a national powerhouse. Many Penn players went on to play professionally. George was the Director at Tecumseh from 1952-1976. After his retirement as Director, George continued going up to Tecumseh every summer until he passed away in 1995. All of those who had the honor of being at Tecumseh during the "Munger Era" are very proud to have known such a fine man. George was elected into the Football Hall of Fame in 1983.
