The Facilities

The waterfront, comprised of over a mile of sandy beach, provides for all types of boating and swimming activities. Tecumseh’s fleet consists of a dozen sunfish, many canoes and kayaks and three inboard craft to tow inner tubes, wakeboards and skis. We believe Tecumseh is still the largest landowner on Lake Winnipesaukee.

The fabulous Athletic Facilities are comprised of:

  • two fields for soccer and football
  • two baseball diamonds and a bat cage with pitching machine
  • eight red clay tennis courts
  • two lighted basketball courts
  • climbing walls (horizontal and vertical located in the barn)
  • roller rink
  • sprint track , hurdles, shot put, high jump, long jump areas
  • lacrosse field
  • safe areas for archery and riflery
  • beach volleyball court
  • wrestling area with mat
  • a weight room,
  • well-equipped woodshop
  • 2500 sq. ft. golf chipping/putting green.
  • new, indoor fieldhouse is scheduled for completion for the 2009 season. Alumni Hall is scheduled for completion in 2009, as well.

All meals are served family style in the large dining hall, located next to the infirmary, which is staffed 24/7 by our R.N. and Certified Trainer. The Creamery and Shover Hall (the library) are located next to the basketball courts. The Sunbeam Shack houses our publication: “The Sunbeam” a weekly highlight.

The Lodge is Camp’s heart and soul: housing plaques of every camper to attend Tecumseh and it is the location of our nightly songs and speeches. Rumor has it that the spirits of many former camp legends inhabit the Lodge as well.

The Farmhouse and the Trunk Room date back to the early 1800s and the Opera House, built in the 60’s, hosts camp sociasl, skits and our annual Gilbert and Sullivan operetta.

On both sides of the main campus, wetlands, forests and streams provide an opportunity for campers to learn about and appreciate their beautiful, natural environment in a secluded and safe setting. Tecumseh also owns two islands offshore, providing a convenient destination for day and overnight camping trips.
